HIFEM Body Contouring & Muscle Definition

Accelerate your fitness goals with targeted electromagnetic therapy. HIFEM technology penetrates the subcutaneous layer to trigger intense, involuntary muscle contractions that simultaneously build muscle mass and break down stubborn fat cells.

This FDA-cleared treatment improves core strength, tones lagging muscle groups, and reshapes your silhouette. Best results are achieved in a series of 4 to 6 sessions.

  • Benefits: Average 16–25% increase in muscle mass and noticeable fat reduction.

  • Ideal For: Individuals close to their target weight looking for precise definition.

One 30-minute session forces the muscles to contract approximately 20,000 times. This is the cellular equivalent of doing 20,000 crunches or squats in a single half-hour period.

Pelvic Restore

Pelvic Restore is a non-invasive medical treatment that uses focused electromagnetic fields to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles in both women and men.

Delivered via a specialized therapeutic chair, such as the BTL EMSELLA, a single 28-to-30-minute session triggers over 11,000 supramaximal muscle contractions, re-educating and toning deep tissues.

HIFEM Contraindications

Because HIFEM delivers powerful, deep electromagnetic fields, it cannot be used if you have:

  • Electronic Implants: Cardiac pacemakers, implanted defibrillators, deep brain stimulators, neurostimulators, or drug pumps.

  • Metal Implants: Hip replacements, pelvic hardware, or fragments located near the pelvic, lumbar, or abdominal region.

  • Malignancy: Any active cancer or tumors within the pelvic area, including active reproductive or prostate cancers.

  • Bleeding Disorders: Hemorrhagic conditions or active anticoagulation therapy that increase bleeding risks.

  • Neurological & Respiratory Conditions: Epilepsy or severe pulmonary insufficiency.

  • Pregnancy: Strictly prohibited.

Vaginal & Female Pelvic Contraindications

For female pelvic health applications, such as stress urinary incontinence or postpartum rehabilitation, avoid HIFEM if you have:

  • Copper IUDs: The magnetic field can heat or dislodge intrauterine devices containing metal.

  • Active Vaginal Infections: Severe yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis, or active pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).

  • Severe Pelvic Organ Prolapse: Stage III or IV prolapse (cystocele, rectocele, or uterine prolapse) where surgery is required.

  • Recent Gynecological Surgery: Untreated or healing tissues following pelvic or vaginal surgery.

  • Menstruation: It is generally recommended to avoid treatment during active heavy menstruation, as the contractions may alter or increase blood flow.

Prostate & Male Pelvic Contraindications

HIFEM is highly effective for pelvic floor rehabilitation following a radical prostatectomy, but it is contraindicated under the following conditions:

  • Active Prostate Cancer: If the malignancy is actively growing or undergoing radiation therapy, electromagnetic stimulation is unsafe.

  • Acute Prostatitis: Active bacterial infections or severe inflammation of the prostate gland.

  • Recent Prostate/Pelvic Surgery: Patients must be fully healed and explicitly cleared by their urologist, typically waiting a specified number of weeks following prostate surgery.

At Skin & Body Aesthetics Medspa, your provider will review your health history and treatment goals to determine whether HIFEM Body Contouring, Pelvic Restore, or both are appropriate for you.
